At The Two Counties Trust (TTCT), safeguarding is at the heart of our Trust. That’s why we have developed our safeguarding campaign to ensure our students feel safe and supported at school. Every term we focus on a specific safeguarding theme tailored to the needs of our 12,000 students.
This term’s focus is Want a Tolerant Society – promoting respect, understanding, and inclusion in a diverse community. This campaign will explore how intolerance can lead to harm and why tolerance is essential for a safe and supportive environment.
The Want a Tolerant Society campaign is a proactive safeguarding initiative aimed at raising awareness, encouraging open conversations, and ensuring that every student feels safe, respected, and heard. The campaign focuses on empowering young people to listen, understand, and challenge intolerance in all its forms.
This term’s focus is particularly relevant as we navigate how to:
Raise Awareness: about the meaning of tolerance, freedom of speech, and the dangers of hate speech and discrimination.
Encourage Respectful Dialogue: Promote listening, finding common ground, and disagreeing without hostility.
Support and Intervention: Ensure timely and compassionate support for those affected by intolerance, with clear procedures for intervention and resolution.
Promote a Culture of Inclusion: Foster a school environment where respect, empathy, and diversity are celebrated every day.
Throughout the term, assemblies, Tutor Time, and Personal Social Health and Economic (PSHE) lessons will explore these topics in depth. Students will be equipped with practical strategies to practise tolerance, protect freedom of speech responsibly, and be positive role models.
Safeguarding is a collective effort and by empowering students to talk to their Trusted Adult, together we’re building a stronger, more supportive Trust community.
