The mission of all schools within The Two Counties Trust begins with ‘To provide our students with opportunities and experiences to enhance their life choices’. In line with this, TTCT schools continually seek innovative ways to broaden students’ understanding of the different pathways available to them beyond their time with us.

As the new academic year began, Career Leads at Heritage High School worked to organise the school’s first-ever school careers fair. The event brought together a range of employers, training providers, colleges and public service organisations, all keen to share guidance and inspiration as students consider their futures.

A total of 17 different organisations visited the school including Derbyshire Police, Drury Joinery, Local NHS Providers as well as a number of different Post 16 providers such as Chesterfield College, Eckington School Sixth Form and Sheffield College. Each stall offered students the opportunity to ask questions, explore potential careers and gain insights into a range of pathways.

Over the course of the day, over 900 students ranging from Years 7 to 11 visited the fair. As they were leaving the event, many guests remarked on how articulate and engaged the students were. They were particularly impressed with the thoughtful questions asked by students in Year 8 and 10. The enthusiasm showed by all students throughout the day made a strong impression.

Thank you to all our visitors and staff for this landmark event. Opportunities like this will undoubtedly resonate with our students for years to come as they consider which pathway to take.
