As we begin to approach the final term of the year, TTCT would like to take an opportunity to showcase some of the wonderful events that have been taking place across our schools recently. Our Performing Arts departments have had a busy and rewarding year with students and staff involved in a wide range of performances and opportunities.
Performances
After a stellar run of sell out shows earlier this academic year, the Ashfield School production of Bonnie and Clyde is once again gearing up for a performance, this time, however, students will be appearing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on London’s West End. For the second year running, an Ashfield production has been nominated for a National School Theatre Awards,an achievement the whole school community is proud of. As well as performing at the event, students attending will get to experience the glamour of a red carpet event as well as the opportunity to meet industry professionals. All at TTCT are wishing Ashfield the best of luck as this incredible event draws near.
Heritage High School have also been wowing audiences throughout the UK with this years schools show. As well as performing their production of High School Musical to fellow students and families, students also showcased their talents at the Music for Youth competition in Hull, alongside other TTCT Schools. The competition is an excellent chance to perform to a brand new audience and also receive some feedback from industry professionals.
Trips
A range of exciting and informative trips have taken place across Performing Arts departments this academic year, with a particular highlight being Selston High School’s West End visit. Selston students spent the morning visiting the renowned Pineapple Dance Studios. During this visit students participated in a musical theatre workshop led by a seasoned West End professional, after a being put through their paces during the intense workshop, students were able to relax as they enjoyed a matinee performance of Mrs Doubtfire. Students came away from the performance captivated with incredible stage design, and a seamless blend of comedy and emotion that brought the beloved story to life. Selston students noted how after the trip, they felt inspired and even more eager to pursue their passion for drama.
This trip organised by Selston is just one of the many trips from Schools across TTCT with schools visiting a range of workshops and performances. More visits to Pineapple Dance studios are due to take place later in school calendars and a number of shows such as ‘Warhorse, ‘Les Miserable’ as well as ‘& Juliet’ have either been visited or are scheduled to be seen as we approach the end of the summer term and school year.
Upcoming Performances
The best place to check for any upcoming performances is a school’s website, however two exciting events happening within TTCT are detailed below:
Ashfield Arts Fest: This is a wonderful opportunity to see the fantastic work of students from all of Ashfields School’s PA departments such as Music, Dance, Drama and Art. It is always a highlight of the school year. Arts Fest is scheduled to take place on 27th June.
Long Eaton Legends Summer Music Festival: Wilsthorpe and Friesland schoo are collaborating in bringing a music festival to both schools, which will include performances from students of both schools. Tickets to this event are on sale using the link below.
A huge thank you to all staff members across the entire Trust for the tireless work that is put in to organising these trips, performances and events. The opportunities that our students gain is invaluable to them in later life as is evdenced by the number of TTCT students that we see progress on to various Drama Schools, Universities and beyond!
