Joseph Godber: Ashfield Alumni
My name is Joseph Godber, a previous student at Ashfield Post 16 between 2016-2019. I successfully achieved three As in Law, Psychology and Maths A-Level. From finishing my A-Levels, I studied Law at the University of York, resulting in a First Class Honours. I am currently studying the Barrister Training Course at BPP University Leeds Campus to complete my vocational learning towards becoming a criminal barrister.
I had a high level of support from Ashfield Post 16 to achieve the grades I got, from the many revision sessions provided by the staff, to the constant personal support and drive I received. Most significantly, I was able to complete an extra year at Ashfield Post 16 to get my 3 As in order to go to my dream university. Overall, Ashfield Post 16 was a place to grow both academically and personally!

Sophie Taylor: Swanwick Hall Alumni
Currently, I am a final year medical student with Keele University. All being well, next year when I am 23, I will graduate and go on to be a doctor in the NHS. I am hoping to continue my training and become a paediatrician. I have already achieved many things such as running national paediatric conferences, having blogs published by the Royal College of Paediatrics and getting a case report published in Midlands Medicine. I am very excited about what the future holds, having wanted to be a Dr from when I was 6 years old.
I have done many exciting things since I left sixth form, including, visiting Africa with a charitable organisation, where we climbed Kilimanjaro. I did some hospital volunteering around Vietnam where I got to deliver a baby! I have also had an active roll in leading university societies and teaching other medical students. I have been employed by NCS as a team leader, by the NHS as a part time as a medical assistant where I take bloods from patients. I will also be working as a COVID-19 vaccinator this Summer.
Outside of my academic and clinical studies I enjoy singing, baking, photography and running. I also have a fabulous bunch of friends and a boyfriend who I enjoy travelling with.
Swanwick Hall Sixth form allowed me to get the A-levels results I needed to study medicine, with fantastic support from all my tutors. I am also still in contact with many of my friends from Sixth Form and see them as much as I am able.
If you work hard and enjoy what you do then the sky is your limit. Swanwick Hall Sixth form is a great place to start.

Dr Courtney Michael Goodridge: Friesland Sixth Form Alumni
A Levels – Psychology, Business, General Studies
I have had a passion for understanding human behaviour for as long as I can remember. The teachers at Friesland Sixth Form provided me with a great platform which allowed my passion to flourish further. Teachers provided insightful lessons and additional support for students who wanted to go the extra mile. Instilling this drive and love for education early on is something that undoubtedly helped me during my university degrees.
Following my A Levels, I obtained a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from Sheffield Hallam University in 2017. I then obtained a Distinction in my Masters degree in Brain Imaging and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Birmingham in 2018. Finally, I completed my PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Leeds in 2022, passing with recognition of achieving Research Excellence. My research area involves using eye tracking and computational methods to understand human behaviour when interacting with manually driven and autonomous vehicles. After a brief stint working at the University of York, I now work as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds where I am continuing my research into the interaction between humans and autonomous vehicles.
I would not be where I am today without the support that Friesland Sixth Form provided me. My advice to current students would be to keep working on or towards things that keep you engaged and excited, and in doing so your career will feel always be meaningful.

Eve: Wilsthorpe Sixth Form Alumni
I studies A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at Wilsthorpe Sixth Form and was supported to make an application to the University of Nottingham to study Medicine. I’m now at medical school and I wouldn’t be here without the help and guidance of all the staff at Wilsthorpe. A-Levels are really tough and I studies mine during a pandemic. The thing that sets Wilsthorpe apart is the great relationships with teachers and the fact they go the extra mile means that you will be successful whatever the circumstances. Wilsthorpe is a community with every need supported. I’m loving my time at university as much as I loved being at Sixth Form and I wouldn’t be here without attending Wilsthorpe Sixth Form.
