As we begin to approach the final term of the year The Two Counties Trust (TTCT) would like to take an opportunity to showcase some of the exciting events that have been taking place across our schools recently. Our Music departments have continued to thrive this year, with students and staff participating in a fantastic programme of performances and events.

Back in March, students from Friesland School, Heritage High School, Swanwick Hall and Wilsthorpe School travelled to the Albermarle Music Centre in Hull to take part in the area’s contribution to the National Music for Youth Festival. Students seized the opportunity to perform to a captive audience of peers, music lovers and industry professionals. Swanwick Hall and Friesland students both presented a collection of songs from their rock bands while Heritage shared a sneak preview from their upcoming performance of High School Musical. Wilsthorpe School also presented six students singing three songs in a close harmony with an accompianiment from a bass player. The opportunity to perform in front of a live audience is always a rewarding experience for our students, however, an extra perk of the National Music for Youth Festival is that all students receive feedback from the industry professionals in attendance. This year the professionals were particularly impressed with the quality of the school’s vocalists.

Exciting performances have been happening closer to home as well. Heritage High School went on to finish their run of High School Musical, providing a great experience for Families and the local community. Wilsthorpe School also held their inaugural ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest. Wilsthorpe will also collaborate with Friesland School later this year to host the Long Eaton Legends Summer Music Festival on Thursday 3rd July. Tickets to what is sure to be a fantastic day are still available by clicking the button on the right of the page.
