In order to ensure equity of student experience and outcomes, subject teams have designated time to curate curriculum plans to ensure all students have access to the wisdom and experience of our talented teaching team. In many subjects, teams have access to TTCT shared curriculum resources to provide all schools with a springboard to develop exceptional planning.

Each school has a default lesson structure to ensure the planned curriculum has impact on students learning and outcomes. Many of the lesson structures have some set techniques taken from Doug Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion which provides teachers with a framework when using routines in the classroom. Some of the techniques which are used across our family of schools are:

  • Check and change
  • Cold call
  • Show me
  • Show call
  • Hunting not fishing

These techniques are not restrictive but allow teachers to check for understanding and then use their expertise to tailor teaching to meet the needs of the students they are teaching.
