On Monday, July 17, 2023, we held our first-ever Trust-wide litter picking day, an event that truly showcased the power of collaboration in creating a cleaner and greener environment.
At The Two Counties Trust, we firmly believe in providing our students with transformative opportunities and experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Our commitment to nurturing responsible and caring citizens drives us to take an active role in safeguarding the world we share. The inaugural litter picking day was a testament to this commitment, as it sought to instil a sense of responsibility for the environment in all our participants, encouraging them to actively contribute to the betterment of their communities.
We were humbled and proud to witness the genuine dedication displayed by our students and staff from all nine schools who enthusiastically volunteered for this event. Their wholehearted participation not only underscored the spirit of teamwork but also demonstrated the immense impact we can make when we work together towards a common goal.
Wesley Davies, CEO, said: “Our Trust mission includes a commitment to making a positive contribution to the world we share, and the Trust-wide litter pick is just one example of how we are making a difference in our local communities. Students were eager to help and support the initiative. I would also like to acknowledge staff who ensured that the litter pick was a massive success.”
Before the event, we had the privilege of welcoming local Councillor Craig Whitby at Manor Academy. Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Whitby took time out to engage in a meaningful discussion with our students. His valuable insights emphasised the significance of litter picking and the profound impact that each individual can have in safeguarding the local community. The collaborative effort between Mr. Whitby and our students in selecting specific areas in Mansfield Woodhouse for the litter picking activity further strengthened the sense of purpose and community connection.
The success of our inaugural Trust-wide litter picking day has inspired us to make it a regular occurrence in the future. As a Trust, we recognise the significance of such initiatives and are determined to sustain this momentum. We aim to forge meaningful partnerships with local councillors and communities, working together to drive positive change and make a tangible difference in the world around us.
At The Two Counties Trust, we believe that it is through collective action and shared responsibility that we can create a cleaner and greener future for everyone. The Trust-wide litter picking day was a profound example of how small actions, when combined, can have a far-reaching impact. We look forward to continuing our efforts in nurturing environmental awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility in our students, fostering a generation of compassionate and proactive individuals ready to make a difference in the world. Together, we can build a brighter and sustainable future for all.
