On Wednesday the 25th of May, Headteachers, Librarians, Literacy Leads and students at each school attended a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the launch of our new reading list and the Trust’s record investment in our student’s reading and literacy.
After months of hard work from many people across the Trust it was wonderful to finally introduce our 11,000 to this carefully curated reading list. Each book was handpicked to stretch our students reading ability as well as their understanding of the world we all share.
The excitement for the launch was perfectly captured when a Year 7 student at Friesland School said, “I love reading and I’ve already worked out the order in which I’ll read the books”. Another Year 10 student at Manor Academy said “The library is a place where we go to leave the real world. The new reading lists are giving us more opportunities to escape and explore new worlds.”
Our commitment to all things reading does not stop at our school gates as the Trust’s Central Office also celebrated the arrival of the reading list. This will enable all our staff to have in-depth conversations with our students about our new books.
Everyone at the Trust is already looking forward to reading our students’ reviews and seeing the impact it has on their life choices.
