School productions are often the highlight of the year for the students and staff that take part in them. The opportunity to work together to create an evening of entertainment for friends, family and the school community is always an exciting prospect. School productions also offer the chance for students to build confidence, develop skills and create lasting friendships with their peers. For Ashfield School students however, this year’s production has been taken to the next level.

After a sellout run of shows earlier this year, the Ashfield School production of FAME was recognised by the National School Theatre Awards. The representative that visited the show wrote a glowing review of the performances, The NSTA also invited the cast to perform a number from the show at their awards ceremony as well as nominating the production for a number of awards.

The event was held in June at the Shaw theatre in London, students are likely to treasure the experience for years to come with the opportunity to walk the red carpet alongside industry professionals, followed by the opportunity to perform alongside various other incredible schools. The cast of FAME took to the stage to perform an exciting whole cast number from this year’s production, wowing a national audience of both educational and arts industry professionals.

However, the high point of the day for students and staff was winning the award for BEST ENSEMBLE. An incredible moment for all involved to be recognised on a national stage for the astonishingly hard work that goes in to crafting these School productions.

Congratulations to the students and staff Performing Arts department at Ashfield School. Your shows are always an incredible highlight of the school year, parents, staff and the Trust cannot wait to see what is planned for the next year.
